Jets to Hire Steve Wilks as Defensive Coordinator

The New York Jets have made a significant addition to their coaching staff, as new head coach Aaron Glenn is set to bring in Steve Wilks as the team's defensive coordinator.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, Wilks will be responsible for calling defensive plays, a role confirmed by Glenn during a press conference this week. This marks a pivotal hire for the Jets, as they look to bolster their defensive strategy under Glenn's leadership.

Wilks brings a wealth of experience to the table. He was most recently the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers but was let go after the team's Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Prior to that, Wilks had a stint with the Carolina Panthers, where he served as the interim head coach following Matt Rhule's departure. In 2018, he was the head coach for the Arizona Cardinals. Over his nearly two-decade career in the NFL, Wilks has also held coordinator roles with the Cleveland Browns and the Panthers.

This move signals a strategic shift for the Jets, who are keen on leveraging Wilks' extensive defensive expertise to elevate their performance in the upcoming season.
