Nebraska women's volleyball coach John Cook, a legendary figure in the sport, has announced his retirement after an illustrious 25-season career with the Cornhuskers. Cook, 68, led the team to four NCAA titles, cementing his legacy as one of the most successful coaches in collegiate volleyball history.
In a statement released by Nebraska, Cook expressed his gratitude, saying, "It's been a great run. I want to thank my family for their support ... I've had the opportunity to work with some great coaches and staff over the years, and I'm forever grateful for how hard they worked and for how much they gave to Nebraska volleyball." Taking over the helm is Dani Busboom Kelly, a former Nebraska player and assistant who has spent the past eight seasons leading Louisville. Busboom Kelly, 39, played a pivotal role in the 2006 Huskers team that won the national championship in Omaha, Nebraska, serving as a setter and a libero during her college career. Busboom Kelly's return to Nebraska marks an exciting new chapter for the program. With her wealth of experience and strong ties to the Huskers, she is poised to continue the tradition of excellence established by Cook.
