The Cincinnati Reds have brought back right-handed pitcher Ian Gibaut on a minor league contract for the 2025 season. Gibaut, who was non-tendered earlier this offseason, will receive an invitation to spring training as he aims to earn a spot on the Reds' bullpen.
Gibaut, 31, has been with the Reds since 2022 and has shown flashes of potential despite some injury setbacks. Over his tenure with Cincinnati, he has posted a 3.77 ERA across 112.1 innings. In 2023, he appeared in a career-high 74 games, recording a 3.33 ERA with 69 strikeouts and an 8.8% walk rate. The Reds are hopeful that Gibaut can regain his form and provide valuable depth to their pitching staff. His experience and previous performances make him a strong candidate to contribute positively during the upcoming season.
