The Dallas Cowboys may find themselves in another contract negotiation, reminiscent of the situation with wide receiver CeeDee Lamb. Lamb held out of the offseason program and training camp in 2024 before ultimately securing a contract extension. Edge rusher Micah Parsons might need to take a similar approach to get the deal he desires before the 2025 season.
Parsons is currently entering the fifth-year option on his contract and is unlikely to play on that after being significantly underpaid in 2024 with a base salary of $2.989 million. In a conversation with Jori Epstein of Yahoo Sports, executive vice president Stephen Jones acknowledged Parsons' immense value to the team. "I don’t think anyone’s ever underestimated Micah’s value in terms of what he can bring," Jones stated. "From the day he walked in the door, he’s been one of those players who, when he’s rolling, it's a problem for the other team, and they have to find him and figure out how they’re going to handle him." Jones also emphasized that while it might be too early to discuss the details of a potential contract extension, Parsons remains a crucial part of the Cowboys' future. "I don’t want to get into the details of early, late, or when all that comes. Too early for any of that, but obviously Micah is an important part of what we’re about," he added.
